Arrested Development mastermind Mitch Hurwitz is returning to Fox with an animated adaptation of live-action Australian sitcom, Sit Down, Shut Up. As described by Variety, "[the show] revolves around the lives of seven staff members of a dysfunctional high school in a small northeastern fishing town." Hurwitz will be exec producing and writing for the series.
I find it strange that Hurwitz is going back to Fox given the way Arrested Development was treated, but I can't deny my enthusiasm for something else from him. Little is known about the show at this point, but it's obvious Fox is looking to find another animated companion for The Simpsons, Family Guy, and King of the Hill. (I refuse to acknowledge American Dad's existence.)
Given that all of those shows are pretty much ready for retirement, it makes sense that Fox would want to look towards new properties. Let's just hope this project doesn't distract Hurwitz from the long-awaited Arrested Development movie.
