"The Fall" Trailer: Tarsem Singh To Finally Redeem Himself For "The Cell"?

Cell

To my eternal shame, one summer afternoon in 2000 I actually went to go see Tarsem Singh's The Cell in theaters on opening weekend (when it incidentally received the top spot at the box office). While the film was completely ephemeral and insignificant, it demonstrated unequivocally that Singh had a unique visual style that fused vivid colors with mind-bending effects, no doubt gleaned from his days as a music video director. Still, I felt that the limited scope of the film's story really restrained Singh's sensibilities.

It's been 8 years since Jennifer Lopez tried to save Vincent D'Onofrio's mind and today we have a trailer for Tarsem Singh's latest film, The Fall. Only unlike The Cell, this film appears to have have the epic expanse more suited to Singh's style. While the trailer is almost completely incomprehensible, it does reveal a few details about the plot (some of which appear to be very spoiler-y, so be warned). The film is slated for a March 2008 release and looks to be even more visually interesting than The Cell, with a gripping Pans-Labyrinth-style story to boot.
