Regarding the concept, Rob McElhenney had this to say: "All of us grew up watching 'Star Trek' and other sci-fi series', and they're always about these adventures. We thought a great area to explore is what happens between the adventures, how the crew members take care of daily routine stuff on the spaceship."
As great of a concept as that is, I doubt I'd have much faith in it to be properly executed if it weren't for the It's Always Sunny guys. Although, it'll be interesting to see how well they can do without putting themselves in the lead roles (or any roles, for that matter). Some of the best humor from their show comes from improv, so there's no telling how that might affect this new series. I'm not too worried though. Well, at least not about them. I can't say the same for Fox, however.
Prediction: As soon as Fox screws the pooch yet again by cancelling Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz's new show, they'll follow suit by cancelling this one. It's like a game to them. How many excellent shows can they cancel in a row? How many diehard fans can they enrage? Bonus points if they get hate mail telling the execs to shove their heads up their asses. Double if it says how far.
