Next "Futurama" DVD Movie Coming in June

Like any red-blooded Futurama fan, I loved the series' first straight to DVD movie, Bender's Big Score, and I'm eagerly awaiting to see the film's extra content when it airs on Comedy Central. Now we have word that the next film, The Beast with a Billion Backs, is due for release on June 24.

Animation Magazine describes it as "the most tentacle-packed Futurama epic, space itself rips open, revealing a gateway to another universe. What lies beyond is a mix of horror and love as the Planet Express crew encounters a repulsive, planet-sized monster with romantic intentions."

I'm almost glad the series was handled so badly by Fox in its initial run. Otherwise, we would have never seen this miraculous Futurama revival -- something which is completely new to television and proves without a doubt that the show is indeed as special as its devoted fans have been saying for years.

We can expect at least two more straight to DVD films, all of which will also end up airing on Comedy Central spliced up as episodes. You can catch Benders Big Score on Comedy Central March 23 at 8pm.
