Alan Ball carved a name for himself with the Oscar winning screenplay for American Beauty, and then followed up that success by spearheading the Emmy-grabbing Six Feet Under. Needless to say, the man is talented, and now that we have a trailer for his next project, which he both adapted the screenplay and directed, you'd best take notice.
Towelhead (formerly titled Nothing is Private) is the story of a young Arab-American girl coming to terms with her new life in a small Texas town. From the trailer, it appears she deals with the typical post-9/11 hysteria, in addition to an overbearing traditionalist father, and an utterly creepy Aaron Eckhart.
Given Ball's track record for crisp and emotionally involving writing, in addition to winning an Emmy for directing the Six Feet Under pilot, I think this will be a film to keep an eye on.
